working together

Sarah loves to help and has been enjoying finding worms, larvae and 'planting' her bouquet in a unprepared bed.
When we arrived to help Andy, it was pouring rain and we spent a lot of time in the greenhouse...then came some better weather and we could get out and help in the main garden.

getting started

Our garden is located on some property belonging to Andy's Dad's cousin - out on Bradner Rd. and McTavish. Vic, this cousin, whom we refer to as Andy's uncle, grows blueberries and graciously and enthusiastically offered to allow us to use almost a 1/4 acre for our first 'small-scale' market gardening venture. Andy drives his brother's (James, away on Mercy Ships mission trip) scooter to the farm almost every day.

a visit

On May 3, Lando, Kathy (Cara's parents) and Elijah and Eva (Cara's sister's oldest kids) came to the garden for a visit with Sarah and I...it was a full van load. The kids enjoyed Vic's chickens and basically ran out to the garden, down the road.

Andy was finishing off the framing of the greenhouse.

Grandma packed snacks and we enjoyed a break together.

After a walk to the end of the blueberry field Elijah and Eva were running out of energy.

Andy is applying Complete Organic Fertilizer (COF).
